After starting to see several news stories that I thought at first could not possily be true, I started to dig a little deeper. Now I have been very very sick for quite a long time and have not been blogging at all, but I just had to post a short something on how I feel as a AMERICAN when we start to have our personal freedoms taken away to a point that we NOW HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO HONOR!!!

What am I talking about you ask? The NEW "enhanced pat down" techniques being employed by the TSA under the guise of national security. If you don't know what I am talking about please I invite you to go have a little peak around the news posts and see if it does not make YOU quake in your boots.

First off, as far as I am concerned any decent human being that knows about the new scanner machines and the images they produce that still go though them are either unaware that they have the right to refuse to do so. Or they care so little about the sacred nature of their own bodies that violation means NOTHING to them. If it be the latter God save those poor souls who do not recognize their Great and sacred nature.

Second I don't know who you are that work for the TSA but I will say this...I don't care if you have a family to feed or if you "claim" to be unable to find any other job on the face of this planet. If you are looking at pictures of people bodies on these scanners or are doing these invasive, demeaning, UNGODLY searches of peoples bodies you are VIOLATING THE LAWS OF GOD and you will be Under condemnation for it. Turn away from your evil doings and DO NOT DO THIS!!!! Walk AWAY and REPENT NOW!!!

I understand that we need security but not like this!! I was getting ready to start doing some more traveling but until this issue is resolved we will not be doing so by air unless it is a true emergency. and the we have already discussed as a family exactually how we will be handling that situation.

… For my daughter and I. We are making full length to the hip corsets with full steel boning in them. With multiple rows of spiral steel boning directly over the breasts and we will be wearing homemade extra extra thick, extra long femine pads (like three or four inches thick we figure we can take them off once we get on the plane) attached to very tight fitting underwear. We then will also be wearing over top of that, full to knee, extremely tight girdle. Again with steel boning directly over the buttocks crack. Then finally a layer of extra large extremely baggy old fashiond victorian pantaloons will be added….I want to see arrant TSA agents really have a hard time trying to grope me or my daughters genitalia after trying to get through all those layers…

If every TRUE BLOODED AMERICAN lady, who wants her body to be sacred joined us to do the same thing I think it would not be long before they gave up on this rediculious invasion of our bodies..They ( THE TSA) want to invade our bodies.... Then LADIES OF AMERICA lets make them fight through our OLD FASHIONED LADY ARMOUR to try to get a grope of our bodies…..Maybe steel chastity belts and cages will have to be next for us and our daughters to keep our virtue in tact and OUR BODIES UNDEFILED.…Will be for mine if this does not work……..Anyone up for joining us? And I am dead serious this is not a JOKE!!

By the way men, my husband has informed me he will be choosing to wear a STEEL CUP, and should he be unable to purchase one....I will be making him a plastic covered and 4 inch padded cod piece and a NETHER REGIONS type of pad similar to what we will be wearing to protect his set of jewels. Any Men willing to join him?

We believe if everyone in this country took the opt out of the PORNO SCAN MACHINES option, demanded a PRIVATE "ENHANCED GROPING" with a witness of a travel companion (which is your right to do, dispite the fact that many TSA agents are refusing to give people that option...If you demand it and you don't get it you CAN SUE!) and dressed as we will be doing it would be NO TIME FLAT before TSA stopped this PERVERSION! Between the tie up in time and the inability to get to your PRIVATES they will eventually give up!!! Feel free to repost this and spread this post as far and as wide as you see fit and if you will do the same as we have outlined

FOURTEEN DAYS OF VALENTINES: DAY TWO/ EASY APRONS TO ACHIEVE DAY ONE

I will be posting for two days today since I missed yesterday. So here as promised are a couple of aprons to give you an idea of things that can be used to achieve day one of our Valentines Day ideas.

This first apron is one I made for The Martini Apron swap I am participating in(check side bar for link) Of course in keeping with my pledge to make or buy handmade and my pledge over at Wardrobe Refashion (again check side bar for link) I made this number out of a thrifted skirt (it was new with tags still on in, but it was at the thrift store so it still counts right?) , a portion of a curtain we found in the trash, ribbon from my stash (so that counts toward my stash busting challenge, again check side bar) and tulle from my stash.

I also made this cute little headband out of the scraps (tutorial in a few days so look for it)

I also made this apron all from curtains we found in our curbside crawls.....The fabric had some pretty noticable stains on it and I originally was not going to use it, but for the Cheap HotMama swap the rule was no buying anything had to be from the stash and of course since I am doing Wardrobe Refashion and Destash 2010 challenge(sidebar) then of course I was not buying.. But I could not find anything in my stash that I thought would work for the lady I was given to do an apron for (Hi Cristal!!) with the theme of "Old Man Winter". So I kept coming back to these terrible and stained curtains. So I went for it and tried to cut around all the stains with no luck, so, WHAT NEXT? Well when all else fails COVER THE SPOTS!! But how you ask?

When all else fails grab the Acylic craft paint I say.

Now your asking how do you use acylic paint on fabric and have it washable?

That is where Fabric Painting medium comes into play. It like magic in a bottle.

Yes I have had some women complain they don't like to use it cause it makes the acrylics too runny and is hard to work with. With a little patience it will work and here is the trick. Mix the paint and fabric medium according to the instructions on the bottle and then if you are in a dry climate let it sit for one hour, stirring every 15 minutes or so(does not have to be exact) and In humid or damp climates let sit stirring every 30 minutes for 2 hours........When the time is up I guarantee you will have the consistency you need to paint on fabric. Works every time.

So I went from what most people would call pure trash to treasure with spotted curtains, some lace pulled off of old clothes. And ball fringe, 4 half bottles of white and cream acrylic paints, fabric medium, bias tape, 1/2 yard of vintage fabric from my stash, one stencil and one tamper brush (used for stencil painting on walls and crafts). And A whole lot of patience as a painted(with a stencil and tamper) fabric a small section at a time and then waited to dry and then the next section. Over and Over again. It was painted after the apron was sewn together, If your a beginner I suggest you definitely paint before you sew the apron together. And here it is!This is the back of course. Full coverage for cleaning and cute to boot. And My own pattern. And last but certainly not least as far as apron ideas go. I just got this little cutey in the mail from my swap gal from the Cheap Hot Mama apron swap. And she had mailed it out BEFORE I had even posted the Valentines Day one idea. She is right up my alley and I am sure if we lived closer we would be best buddies always up for an adventure for sure and for certain! She nailed What I like tongue and cheek.

My hubby-o was unfortunately home when the package came and insisted he get to see what was in the package. Darn! Potential suprise somewhat ruined, but he will have to wait for a LIVE modeling. I'm thinking ruffled bottom tap panties In Hot Pink? No? Yes? Maybe?

So Day Two Apron ideas to Fulfill day one! Naked Housecleaning is your assignment. Now don't say I did not give you enough days to prepare for this one. Now snap those garters and get to it Gals!!!

FOURTEEN DAYS OF VALENTINES: DAY ONE/ APRONS, GARTERS AND NAKED HOUSECLEANING?

             Sorry it has been a loooong time since we have posted. I (kim) have been under the weather with asthma and the inversions here in Salt Lake Valley make it actually life threatening. I have been put on a more aggressive daily regime so we will see if it works for me. In the mean time I must say my crazy little crew has been super FANTASTIC at keep the household going.....My husband has FINALLY after all of these years started cooking some of the meals. I am not sure if he finally just has the confidence or after all this me being sick has got him thinking if he doesn't he might just starve to death. Anyway It has been a blessed relief to have willing hands.Maybe all my years of "training" have finally paid off.......So you MOMS out there who are still in training mode(and wives too), PLEASE STICK TO IT!!! I promise you with loving patience IT WILL BE WORTH IT IN THE END!!!!!! ..................................I PROMISE!!!!!!!!!

Now on to better things. I have been making a few aprons for swap items and I thought I would count them as my count down to Valentines Day day One. So I think aprons are the perfect Valentines Day item. Want to know WHY? Well here is a rather personal disclosure so if you don't want this image in your head .........DON"T and I repeat DON"T read ANY FURTHER...................I am dead serious now! I mean it!

Okay so here it is. My hubby and I have never had a lot of money, well none really. But we DO HAVE extremely creative minds and both of us could not care a fig about what others think of us(partly because both of us are on the heavy side and people can be so cruel and evil in their attitudes toward people like us. I have actually been spit upon on more than one occassion in public and called a pig by strangers. But that is for another day.)..........Our prepincity toward the creative side and not caring about public opinion can be both freeing and lead to some fun adventures ......Let me tell you !!

           So in the ROMANCE department we have always had to be creative since lack of money rules and since we got married with a 5 year old in tow, and a very precocious one at that.............Trying to sneek around and engage in normal honeymoon and early marriage activities was quite the challenge I must say!.....If you have more than one then by nature they distract from the attention being on you. And if you ever have a Normal two person honeymoon period with no children, count yourselves the luckiest people on the face of the earth.......To say finding opportunity and place to be ALONE brought our creative juices flowing.....Trying to outsmart a 5 year old child can be one of the biggest challenges of my poor old little brain that G-d could have invented. If you have a precocious 5 year old you KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I MEAN!!!!!!!

         So occassionally we could get someone to take her for half a day....(few and far between but greatly appreciated) and of course we want to do FUN THINGS and of course as always NO MONEY. So we turned our lemons into lemonades.........It has also become an annual event either on Valentines day or on Our Anniversary........Okay so here it comes if you DON"T WANT THOSE BAD PICTURES IN YOUR HEAD ADVICE IS ....................STOP READING NOW!!!!!



So our Day One Valentines Day advice and Idea is this:

                   Try naked housecleaning.   Yes you heard me right. NAKED HOUSECLEANING!!!
Get rid of the kids or any other hanger on'ers, others in your house for the day. Make sure you have good curtains or blinds on all the windows. Find a hot and sexy APRON(or make one it can be cheap and easy to do), STOCKINGS and GARTER(you know the proper kind with garters and such, not those modern torture devices they have the gall to call pantyhose when they should be called EVIL). A great pair of comfortable HIGH HEELS that are hot. And of course A FEATHER DUSTER and other assorted cleaning items. And as the years have gone by a SEXY BRA has been added to the mix(once those gals start to end south there is no stopping them) So I guess in our older fart mode we should probably call our endevour "LINGERIE HOUSECLEANING." Anyway....And a plan.......Don't get me wrong we clean not just have "FUN"......My man KNOWS a clean house makes me HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY.....And that makes him HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!!!!..............Of course be careful what cleaning activites you engage in, as some could be dangerous. Like the year we thought we would lay some hardwood flooring, SPLINTERS ARE JUST NOT SEXY! KWIM!!!

And ladies I don't want to hear the excuse that you could NEVER do this cause you don't have the body for it....Please! I have like the worst body in the entire world. Anybody who knows me can vouch for that.......But I am not letting it stop me! I lived alone for far too many years not to value and appreciate what I have in my man. If he wants to look at it (my body) in all it's old wrinkly, fat glory and he still has the hots for me then I'm going for it and so should you!!!!! If you have someone who loves you ,don't deny them because of your insecurities or what you think society says is right or wrong as far as desire and body size goes. JUST COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS AND GO FOR IT!!!!!

Well If you are wondering about the crazy music selection on this blog.............................Cake!!! Cake???Cake!!!

Here it is folks! Young Miss is on the "Chuck" television show countdown! We don't watch much TV in this house. In fact we don't and have not had the TV hooked up to watch since the goverment big wigs decided we should all go digital....We don't have a converter box.......We watch the few shows we do watch on the computer. Yes folks the little laptop 14" screen is our only working "boob tube" in the house. And for us "oldies" the volume on these little laptops not so hot. Anyway. So TV in our house ,Not So Much......But don't stand between Young Miss and her obsession for "Chuck".

Is it the every so slight bent toward geekdom in Chuck himself? Is it the kind heart of the Chuck character? Is it the Chuck workplace with all the loveable geeky dorkdom? Or is it the "Nerd Herd" form of uber cool transport that sends her heart racing? Who knows? Shes not telling! But the countdown has been going on for 6 weeks plus now. And we are down to 5 days and counting......Ssshhh. Don't tell Young Miss. We've been counting too!!!! Let the "Chuck" fest begin baby!!!!

New Years

Happy New Years All!

      I am very excited that we are starting a new year. It gives me a chance to send 2009 packing. It has been a very tough and difficult year here and we are hoping and praying 2010 will be more secure and fruitful for our family. That said here are the things we are going to be focusing on in the New Year:

    We are going to work on getting ourselves and our business operations more streamlined, so we can focus on those things that work and eliminate the things that don't.

     We will be doing the same for our personal lives things that don't work are going bye bye and new traditions and new patterns of interacting with others will be our goal.

    We will blog at least 4 times a week

    We will get even more frugal

    And lastly we will not be sucked into drama that is brought on by codependent and irresponsible relatives any more. Sometimes you just have to create new family ties elsewhere. This is the great lesson we have learned from 2009. And it is freeing and We already feel a great burden lifting. SOOOO.............

2010 For us will be more organized, simplified, frugal and personal relationship freeing............It feels so good even saying it.

Another Show and Tell: New Outfit For My Young Miss

Just had to get a little show off picture of the outfit I made for my daughter(Young Miss) from scraps from the flannel I used to make sheets for the bed......70" wide material gives you the luxury of some good sized scraps to work with.....So from my scrap stash This emerged. The skirt is a multi paneled Vogue( I will have to post the number later as my sewing room is being reworked and it is MIA in the piles somewhere, AAUUGGHH!).. Anyway we are not skinny misses in the this house by any means..As my lovey hubby likes to put it....G-d did not skimp on the portions in our house. Anyway this pattern IS A KEEPER..It is awesome fantastic for curvier gals....The cape had no pattern, I just winged it. It is lined with lining from the stash ..And this trim was picked up at a thrift store about 7 years ago for $1.00... It had many many yards on it..Still some left......Anyway here she is..........

Pretty cute for scrap yah? Still think it needs a different top.Since the red are not quite right together. But the hat from her wardrobe is a perfect match.New blouse Soon. Total cost to make was $7.00....See I am out to prove to all the nehsayers that that sewing CAN be cheaper than buying and you get one of a kind and cuter stuff to boot! Heres to creativity. THERE!(sticking tongue out)

Sew And Tell Friday: Dec 18, 2009

This is my first time doing Sew And Tell. over at the site amylouwho.com.

I spent most of the week working on a project for someone I don't even know. I found a little girl on the website Wish Upon A hero........The link is on my side bar under my Etsy display. She is a "little" person. A anachondriplasia dwarf (excuse me if I got that wrong) and as she is getting older she is having a more difficult time finding clothes. So having just a little something of an idea how hard it is to go to school everyday and not be able to get clothes to fit and feeling like you don't fit in, We decide to grant her wish for new clothes. So here is the hitch, I am in the middle of a sewing room make-over and loose the cord for the camera so I cannot download any photos.............So I have none of those items I worked on this week to show... I am hoping and praying her mother takes some photos and sends them my way so I can post them to show. I just hope and pray they fit as i was working long distance with only measurements, I of course did not take............Heres hoping they all fit.............Anyway so I did get a couple of other projects done this week. Not as much as I should have but anyway.

First I made another set of bedsheets from mill ends(from top manufacturers sometimes) that are sold at our Wal-Mart ( our Wal-Mart is one of the few left in the country who have a fabric department, Thank you Tongan and Samoan lady sewer who have threated to boycott and put Wal-Mart out of business here if they don't keep the fabric department here. We love you!!!) .... anyway a couple of months ago......I found three bolts of Portugese 18 ounce velvet finish flannel.......This is the same stuff that they make set sheets out of and get almost $300.00 a set.. And score!! It was only $2.00 a yd... I almost peed myself! ALMOST!!!!.......So I made sheets sets(fitted, flat and 4 pillow case sets of each material).....This stuff is so yummy to sleep on no one wants to get out of bed. And the cat Now REFUSES to get out.. Stinker!!!

And this is a denim rug in progress made from the waistbands of old blue jeans, went as far as I could this week, but I am in need of way more......Anyone got any any old jeans that are to far gone to wear, I will gladly take them off your hands. Just let me know.

And last but not least is this set of pillows...This was the last of this material..Boo Who!! Another bargain of monumential proportions.

I promise I will have better pictures next week. I kind of winging it this week. Guess this is some progress from the me and the Crew........BYE.

Tutorial: Linen Vintage Look Bell Pull

This bell pull is any easy beginner level project. It takes no more than 45 minutes to 1 hr tops to complete a pair of these. They look great displayed on double front doors, one on each. They also look great on either side of a mantel or just on each door of your home....The linen look it just perfect for a modern classic look.
These cost me about $4.00 a set to make. My Supplies were purchased at Wal-mart. May run a little more if purchased else where.

Disclaimer here: I am not now, or ever was a hand model . These are just poor ole working girl hands. So just get use to it!

So here we go: To make a set of two You will need :2 1/2 yds of Red trim Burlap Upholstery

                                                                                       webbing (used in upholstery to weave under the
                                                                                           chair to hold seats and backing in place)

                                                                                         Red grosgrain 1/2" wide ribbon about 8 yds

                                                                                         Jingle bells : 20   that are 1 1/4" diameter
                                                                                          or 40 that are 1/2"  diameter

                                                                                             matching beige thread

This is what your material will look like.

Now to start sewing:

Turn one end of your material down 1/2" and stitch close as you can to the folded edge.

Once you've done that turn the fabric to the wrong side with the center slit area matching the center of the material from side to side to form a V shape at the bottom edge of the bell pull. Pin as shown. Stitch across the straight edge. (some people will say that you should do a true miter instead, but it does not work as well. This method keeps seam bulge from showing to the front and also keeps you from having to trim too close which with this type of material will cause fraveling that might be fatal to this project) This method I am showing you also gives the piece the weight it needs on the end to hang straight otherwise it might twist when hanging.

Now measure from tip end out to 38" and cut other end straight.

Fold the cut end 1/2" to back side and stitch as close to folded edge as you can across.

Once that is done. measure out a 2" long loop of grosgrain (so 4" total)

Pin and

stitch to back side in the middle where you had stitched before. Flip work to front side and bend grosgrain ribbon over the edge and stitch one more time. You will be able to see what I mean in the next photo.

Then fold to back side 1 1/2" to form a pocket and stitch to where the loop will be hanging facing up so you can hang your pull.

Now measure the miter type end up 2 1/4" from tip of V and mark with chalk.This will be the placement for the first bell or bellls.

Then you will proceed to mark bell placement with chalk working to the top with each being 3" apart .

Take a workable length of grosgrain and cut into a v the end so it will go through a large eye needle easily.

Double over thread. (Big Tip: make sure your needle is not so big it won't go through the back end of the bells.. Don't usually have to worry about this with the larger size bell, but you might with the smaller ones.)

Run thread from back to front and leave about a 4" tail to back.

Just like that.

Now thread one large or two small bells on needle and thread and pull them down to the fabric.,

Run needle through front to back of work, making the bells snug to the front. Leave another end with at least 4" and cut. You will then tie off in a double knot to the back of the work. Remember to hold a knot well it is Right over left and then left over right. Repeat the process for each chalk mark until you have 10 placements down the front. Repeat for the second pull same as the first. Or make many sets as I did and do all the steps assembly line style. Goes much faster that way!

And no my door is NOT dirty. It has a linen look glazing technique on it.

Hang and enjoy, by using loop in back and a nail, or those commando hooks that don't marr walls. Or make a decorative hanger or dowel to run through the top pocket and hang. I love these. They are classy, easy and inexpensive. What could be better. If something is not clear or you have questions or comments please feel free. We love comments. Makes us feel loved!

It's Been a Long Time

It has been way too long, but we are back. Not everthing in our lives has been ironed out. But we are starting to see the forest for the trees so to speak. So let's get this party started, shall we?

Starting on Personal Christmas gifts

Hi all,

Well we are back for the most part. So I am posting some pictures of the Christmas gifts I am making over the course of the next few weeks. Todays pictures are of the items I am making for Aki Ann who is my great niece(my nieces daughter). She is 1 year and 3 months old. She is quite tall for her age and is wearing size 2T already. We have not gotten to see her in person, but she already talks a lot and is always asking Why? and What for? All the babies in our family always talk really early and ask lots of questions. So here they are all made from scraps of material I had laying around and the sweater are all ones that we found in the trash piles along side the furniture and wood we scavenge for. We found so many clothes this year it is almost sickening and lots of them were in really really good if not perfect condition. Again we say," Why people Why"? Donate, Donate, Donate!! Please. Anyway the first item I have made is a reversible jumper.

Here is a close up detail of the applique and the pockets on the reverse side.

The next outfit was a rescued sweater and scraps of material that was used to cover up some spots and the rest of the scraps where used to make a complete circle skirt. Always remember to make the front of the skirt about 1 1/2" shorter in the front for little girls sizes 2T to 7 as they stand a little bit differently than when they mature some. If you notice when little girls wear skirts they tend to dip badly in the front. Making the skirt shorter in front will help make the hem look more even. The skirt is double layered and is great for twirling around in. All the laces and ball fringe are from the overwhelming stash I am trying to use up. Its going to take years I am sure.

Any way so that is one persons Christmas done and dozens more to go! I Will show you next Tuesday, sheets I made for our bed ,and some short intructions so you to can make luxury linens for a fraction of the store price. See you tomorrow.

Please Forgive my lack of posts

Please know I will resume blogging in the next few days. I went to the eye doctor a few weeks ago and was given the news that in the two year since my last eye exam(in which I had the same vision 20/40 nearsighted that I have had for the last 32 years) that I have developed rapidly developing glaucoma which can be treated AND also severe and agressive macular degeneration which is looking like is not treatable for the kind and condition I have. Needless to say I was given a diagnosis of becoming completely blind within the next 5 to 10 years. With the likelihood considering the progression so far in such a short amount of time, that it will be most likely near the 5 year mark. Needless to say I am completely and utterly devastated. I am by no means capable right now of making a living of any sort being blind. I and my family are still in shock and disbelief and are having a rather hard time excepting this, as I am sure anyone would be. Please know we have not forgotten our new blog family. We just need some time to work through our disbelief and trying to come to terms with this news. We thought we had already had a rough year, but this is the icing on the cake. Thank you for your patience and know we will get back to our blog and our lives in short order and do all we can for as long as we can. Thank you ! The Bell Family

NO BLOG POSTS THIS WEEK OTHER THAN GIVE AWAY WINNER

I am so sorry blog members. We will not be posting anything else this week. We have a major, major problem on our hands here that must be addressed. Seems although Salt Lake City building department and Salt Lake City business inspection department believe our building is up to code and more than exceptable to do business in. One Salt Lake City fire department has decided to take it upon them selves to condenm our building right out from underneath us and the other 16 artists in the building. We have 30 days to vacate, however since our lease was up the end of this month, we have been told we have less than 10 days to move and relocate. So our entire winters inventory as well as next springs must be moved, PRONTO! We Thank G-d above we were able to find a lease in South Salt Lake very very quickly so that we can be back up and operational in a few short weeks....I think we actually must have had an angel watching over us as this all falls during my husbands vacation. It certainly is NOT the way we wished to spend my husbands precious vacation time. However we are greatful we did not go on the three week road trip we were going to go on. As we would have come back to being locked out of the building with all of our inventory and tools gone with NO legal recourse. Please know I must have this time to get business back up and running and we will be back next week with our full posting schedule. Also as a plus for those of you who live locally, our new space has a clean and lovely little office that is going to be set up as a sewing studio and we will soon be able to offer sewing classes and some sewing bees for those who are interested, living locally. Please pray all goes well and no one is injured or suffer too much in the moving process. We love and miss you and will see you next week.

VINTAGE THINGIES THURSDAY

So I am going to post some things we found again in our jaunts through the trash and curb side pick-ups In Salt Lake City.

This scale was found in a Mexican markets dumpster. It would have never been found as we usually don't do alot of actually dumpster diving. However this dumpster that night was loaded with wood from some displays that had been removed from the store. It was nice boards of pine that Hubby likes to build with. As he dug, he unearthed this little beauty. He of course would not let me see it and just kept oh ing and ah ing. And then tried to tell me he was going to leave it cause it was just too dirty. AS IF !!!! I did not care with this how much dirt I had to clean off of it....I only hope it had been in storage for years, cause if not, it was in the store in that state....I just cannot imagine that! The basket that is suppose to sit on the white rim is missing but it is still in working order and I just love it. It now has a home in my kitchen, where it is happily loved.

Next find was from the annual trash pick up in SLC. It was found in one of the more exclusive neighborhoods. The pictures really don't do it justice. It too is part of my home and is most of the time full of flowers. It is lead cystal. It did not have one scratch or ding on it...Who would throw out such a lovely piece? At least donate it to a charity shop right?

Next is a rolling pin we found in the trash. It is marble and quite heavy and has been in our home quite a while now. It was actually one of our first trash pile finds. It is wonderful to use to make pie crust with. You just have to be careful not to roll too hard or the pie crust gets way to thin. My hubby calls it the bad hubby basher....Again with the wicked sense of humor. Like I would ever! So that is some of my vintage kitchen items for this week.

JUNKING FINDS FROM THIS WEEKEND

Here is sampling of just some of the items we found in the SLC,Utah large curbside trash pickup this weekend. The area this week is south of Sugarhouse between 1300 East and about 1900 East 800 South to 1300 South. This sewing machine case will be repaired , painted, glazed and turned into a fine desk.

This door will become part of a hall tree, door sofa, kitchen island or some such goodie. The hardware will be used in some project. They just don't make them like this any more. Just look at all the details on that door knob and plate. And the other side has the same.

This side table book shelf will be taken apart, put back together and repaired. A top will be added, then it will be painted and glazed. I always just love these. Cute, petite, but very useful. These are great to move about when changing decor because they can fit almost anywhere.

This ugly little box will be transformed with mod podge and Christmas images to make a gift box or trunk. Would you just love to get a gift presented in something like that. A two for one. Love those.

And here is what we worked on this week and delivered to the Home Again stores located in Midvale, Utah and SLC, Utah (Sugarhouse area).

This solid oak table was sitting in pieces along side the road in Salt Lake city trash pick up this week.The top was too far gone to cost effectively restore it properly. So we fixed what we could and then did a Swedish painting and glazing techinque on the top in a blue tone and left the bottom its original color with a new coat of stain and a finish coat to protect. This one, I was tempted to keep, but I just recently upgrade my dining room table to a much old and more valuable antique. No leaves in this one. Never had them. Could you see this in a kitchen or breakfast room?

This washstand was found in the trash last week too. It had had its little legs chewed at by someones little doggy. So we said , "Oh, please hop up on our old beat up truck and come home with us and we will fix you right up." We reshaped the legs to get rid of the doggies naughty deed, painted and glazed her. Mrs. Washstand says she is feeling right chipper again. She said thanks. We said no problem. And now she too, is looking for a good new home.

This side table is frankly just a bit confused. I am afraid my hubby has been playing at being Dr. Frankenstein again, taking pieces and parts from old furniture and combining them together. I am not sure the furniture minds much since they are getting new life. I however keep telling him he must only stick to furniture. Otherwise people might get wrong ideas. This little monster is also up for a good adoption.

This freestanding cabinet(from construction at least 100 yrs old) mostly likely used as a clothes cupboard , was found along side the road too. It also hopped on the truck and hubby repaired the trim work, painted and glazed inside and out. Now she is ready for a new home too. I think this one would be great in a sewing or craft room just loaded with fabric or supplies. The thought of that just makes my heart sing.

These two were in pieces, crying on the side of the road. Well how could we, pray tell, leave two weeping babies? So they also got a ride on the truck and a beauty treatment when they got home. Now they are out painting the town together, looking for new homes.

This motley assortment is now hanging out at Home Again in SLC, Utah after being halled in, off the side of the road, where they were hanging out in a gang who had taken over the streets of SLC. Once rounded up, given the riot act, booked, jailed and placed to corrections, they are now ready to become good working citizens in the community once again. They just need to find willing sponsors to put them to work.

Here is a closer look at one of the motely crew. He is decked out in vintage 1968 retro cool tiles. With a fresh new look in a new paint job.

And last but certainly not least here is the hardworker out of the bunch from that motely crew, sporting new paint and silver leg tips. He has come a LONG way from the brown and gold gang colors he was sporting originally. What do you think? Do hubby , Leira and I make a good corrections officer and adoption agency crew or what?

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Over at the blog luvinthemommyhood http://www.luvinthemommyhood.com/ she has a questionaire going. I thought since we were getting to "know" one another on this new blog that I would "give it whirl" KWIM. So from her questionaire here's a little, about little old me.....For your FYI this one is about Kim, since this is a family blog. Just so you know. William will have one up on Tuesday about himself . And we will have to see if Big Miss wants to participate or not?....Big Miss (Leira) can be a little shy at times. Maybe we can coax her out of the coat closet(shhhhh! no ones suppose to know she still likes to read in there....Keep it quiet okay?)

Wishing: I was young and could still go 4 days straight with no sleep.

Liking: The new cabinet we found for FREE for the sewing room make-over, (after I had spent over two years looking and finding nothing and giving up and buying two Ikea Hemnes yellow glass front cabinets for $500.00 plus tax, only to have my husband open one of the boxes and then promptly have the studio/art space neighbor, a very talented, but somewhat cranky woodworking artist offer up an old oak table for money and this lovely OLD glass door legal office bookcase for free....Hubby promptly said yes and we immediately returned the boxes back to IKEA. Needless to say my hubby was none too pleased with the back and forth from Ikea when, as he put it, "See, see, see, maybe if you had just a little more patience you could have saved me a couple of trips" Patience?, after two years he has to be JOKING , right? Let's just say to KNOW HIM is to LOVE him!!! LOL!!

Wondering:When I am going to make time to get stuff posted on Etsy this week.

Loving: That my husband is off work from his desk job for three weeks.

Hoping:That he does not wear me out too badly with all the things he wants to get done in the next few weeks.

Marvelling: That with all the time I have spent on the computer and learning to work our camera, that DH has not lost his cool yet.

Needing: To do more canning, get some more paperwork done (when you run a business and do your own bookkeeping it is never ending)

Smelling: new shipment of lavender I just recieved

Wearing: shirt and skirt

Following: blogs only, not watched TV in this house in almost a year.

Noticing:That the leaves seem to be changing color faster this year by at least two weeks.

Knowing: That my husband and daughter love me very much.

Thinking: I wonder if, with this level of togetherness over the next three weeks, who will want to "kill" who first? Maybe "kill" is too harsh, but you get my drift....We don't actually fight but we are both very stubborn at times and very open about how we feel...Things can get terse every once in a while.

Free Apples/ Thoughts for September 11th

Did you know that if you hunt around you may be able to find FREE FOOD. Yes that's right! If your willing to put in a little elbow grease, some time, and are not afraid to ask people, you too may be able to find FREE FOOD. Its a little thing that's been around since biblical times called gleaning and its making a come back in some parts of the country. We are a country of so much, that we many times let food literally rot on the tree or in the field. How sad is that? If I gave you some ideas would you glean? Well I am going to whether you said yes or no. Here goes: First there is a website that has started in California. At first it was just a local concept with a couple of young ladies in San Fransisco. They decided that they were tired of paying high prices for ALL their groceries when they drove , or cycled by trees all the time where the food was literal rotting and going to waste.Here is that site: http://www.neighborhoodfruit.com/ . You can go and look up trees in your area that are on private land that owners list that you can glean from or on public land that you can glean legally from.(Did you know that in most areas of the country park strips are considered public property and the trees planted there are legal to glean from? I did not either until recently. Of course check the laws in your area first before you do any public land gleaning, but in most places it is perfectly legal) Most listings on this site are currently in California, but the site is expanding and growing monthly and many new states are starting to get listings posted. That is exciting and not just for the gleaners. Did you know that if you have trees or a garden that you have excess produce from, you can list them on this site? Well you can. You could be the first in your state to post and start spreading the joy of sharing and the frugalness of not wasting. A principle that our country was PROUDLY founded on! We gleaned from a public tree on a park strip this week here in Salt Lake City. Want to see what we got:

Yes we gleaned a whole bushel of apples off of one tree and could not even get them all. This is just a small portion of them. They are some of the nicest tasting green apples we have ever eaten. Not too tart, not too sweet, just right......I will show you later what we did with some of the apples. So I challenge you to check out the website and either go find something to glean or spead the love and find a tree or garden to list that people can glean from...Gleaning is a worthy and righteous concept dating back to biblical times. And on this day in our American History could we all do more to help our neighbors and truly use ALL the blessing G_d has put to our use. If we utilized all the waste in our great country I truly believe none would go without that are willing to put forth an effort. It would free up resources to help those few among us that cannot help themselves. Think what you can do today to help a neighor or even a stranger and reach out......America is only as strong as its weakest members.

Tutorial Tuesday / DOOR HALL TREE FROM TRASH

I am sorry we are late with this post this week. Things will get better I promise.

Just a precaution before we continue. All woodworking projects are potentially dangerous. DO NOT attempt if you not familiar with using tools or are not willing to accept risks...ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTIVE EYE WEAR and know and learn how to use your tools properly according to manufacturers instructions.

We share projects under a commons license ideal and all activities are at the risk of participant.

Now that that is out of the way:
Here we go:
I am just going to give you a starting taste of some of the things we have been making for the last 7 years. We will start with this cute little number my husband made from found objects. The list of supplies is:
1. old solid wood door (do not attempt this project with a hollow core door) with criss cross lattice style window (we removed the glass and it will later be recycled into pieces for jewlery)
2. old kitchen cabinet, upper cabinet
3.4 matching bun legs salvedged from old sofa
4. old wooden vent a hood (goes above stove)
5.two- 1/2" to 1/4" thick scraps of wood, wide enough to fit under kitchen cabinet and long enough for the length on one an the other wide enough and long enough to hang over 1 1/4" to 2" on three sides of upper cabinet
6. scavenged knobs
7. paint (for this project we use old miscolored paints as base coat and Wal-mart custom mix outdoor semi-gloss paint, black ...mix code is one gallon starter and 64 y measure black only tint)
8. screws
9. brads
10. wood putty
11.electric screwdriver
12. jigsaw
13. circular saw
14. hammer
15. paint brushes ( we use the multi 6 pack found at Family Dollar stores, best price for the quality anywhere)
16. optional: poly acrylic finish, matte or gloss depending on the look you want.
17. handle face plate
18. set of matching hooks, single or double.
19. optional: chicken wire

First gather all your supplies, making sure the cabinet you have secured for use on the bottom of this hall tree is the width of the door or smaller (nothing wider). Same goes for the hood (if you can find one it is not required to make a Hall tree if you don't like the look or cannot find one.)
Here are all of our supplies:

Next you will bust out all the glass(if you choose you can leave the glass, but be warned it is more dangerous if you have children. Also makes the piece more difficult to work on and moving a more cautious task.) We choose to take the glass out, as the market we sell in, things with mustard colors DO NOT SELL WELL. Save the glass if you make jewlery, otherwise recycle it or put it up on Freecycle so others may put it to good use. Remove the hardware from door(handle , both sides)

Then we cut a board the width and length of the bottom cabinet. Attatch the bun legs to board with buns sticking out slightly from the corner edges of front and side of board

Back buns need to be tucked in and set so that when the board is up against the door the board butts up with no gaps next to the door. Use several long grabber screws for each bun leg attachment. Screw through the top of the board to do this.

Next you will open doors of cabinet and screw from the inside, attaching the cabinet to the board which now has legs. Screw in each corner and a couple of places in the middle. Counter sink the screws(in other words sink them deep enough that the cap of the screw head is below the wood. This is done so the cabinet will have no rough screw tops to catch on items stored inside. The counter sunk screw holes will be covered with wood putty and smoothed when dried (sanded) to make a smooth shelf at bottom of cabinet. Then you will attach the cabinet to the door by again screwing through the cabinet back attaching the cabinet to the door....Make sure door is in standing position as well as cabinet. Align the cabinet centered on the door center (in other words mark both the door vertical center and the cabinet vertical center and line them up so that when you attach them, your piece will be balanced on each side.Counter sink screws slightly and treat as the bottom screws.Make sure when working on this portion that you work on a level floor and that the door is level to the floor. Once cabinet is attached, mark and cut board to place on top of cabinet (make sure this is a nice piece of wood as it will be seen, also once cut, it is nicer if the three sides that will face outward have a routered edge for a more finished look and feel.) Board measurements should be size of upper part of cabinet plus over hang on two sides and front. overhang can be 1 1/4" to 2" but should not be wider finished than the door across measurment. Router if desired and attach to top by screwing from under side of cabinet top. Make sure screws are not too long to go through the top and mare the cabinet top.

Next attach the vent a hood to top of door by screwing from back of door through to hood. Again make sure your screws are not too long to mare the hood. Make sure screws are slightly counter sunk on back of door as most likely this piece will always sit up again a wall and you would not want walls mared. We added extra wood to the back of the door to make it taller on this piece since the vent a hood was large, to counter it and make it more attractive. You do not have to attach a vent a hood. Any moulding trims could be attractively stacked and attached to finish the top. If you have a door with missing window but it is not criss cross pattern like this one you can also attach chicken wire to the back and staple for a country look (make sure all staples are hammered in securely and all edges of chicken wire are hammered in as well to prevent walls from becoming scratched....This should of course be a last step after painting and finishing the entire piece (inside and out, front and back and make sure you get all the way around those bun legs. You never know when some little rug rat may be crawling along and checking out your work.) Putty all holes except the hole where the door handle was. Wait to dry then sand smooth. Use junk paint as first coat of paint. Let dry. Second and third coats black paint. Dry in between coats throughly. Apply one to two coats of poly acrylic finish coat if desired. Comes in glossy or matte. We use matte finish.

Attach cover plate over door knob hole in front only. Add knobs (hardware) and Double hooks to top as shown in picture. (DISCLAIMER: as with ANY LARGE HEAVY PIECE OF FURNITURE, please if you have small children living in or visiting your home, PLEASE MAKE SURE TO ANCHOR LARGE PIECES OF FURNITURE TO WALLS APPROPRIATELY to avoid crushing accidents PLEASE) This item is made very bottom heavy and would be very difficult to tip, but you should never take chances, especially if you have children who like to climb, as it only takes once and a life time of regret.) And lastly a picture of our new creation once delivered to Home Again Midvale, Utah location. This item is sold. Sold in three days..We sell lots of Hall Trees. Each one is different and unique. Vintage Thingie Thursday

THE FLIRTY APRON "I LOVE LUCY" SWAP

Well my swap partner finally got her apron. I was getting so stinking over excited about it. I did not post what I made since it was suppose to be a secret....So my swap partner was Betty aka Fudgie. Now let me tell you this swap for me was not easy to figure out what to send. Somehow I had misread the info that Shawnee had sent me and I thought it said that my swap partner DID NOT LIKE VINTAGE. All I could think is What? What's up with that? No way could I ask Fudgie to comfirm. It's suppose to be a secret swap right? So I rack my brain trying to think how I am going to do "I Love Lucy" with a modern spin. Oh, and to make things more of a challenge for myself I had already signed up for my six month pledge to refashion, not buy anything new and use only what I had. I knew my secret swapper was really jonesen for some "I Love Lucy" material on her apron, from her blog,but that was not going to happen....Sorry Fudgie. Oh! What to do? I watch a lot of "I Love Lucy" cd's from the library(Let me tell you, I had no idea how few of these I had actually ever watched as a child). Well after much back and forth and then hitting the unfinished white prom dress(that by the magic of the Salt Lake City clean up piles I had managed to snag in a clean box of unwanted half finished projects and scraps love, SCORE!!!) and seeing the Lucy episode with the Carmen Miranda song, sweet love I had my answer. So here it is in all it's upcycled, recycled "I Love Lucy" glory.

Well its modern, its flirty, as Fudgie says in a hoochie mama sort of way, and it screams Mamae Eu Quero. Si?

I ADMIT I HAVE BEEN A BIT,ALRIGHT A LOT SNARKY THIS SUMMER

After going back and reading these few blog entries, I admit I have been really really snarky this summer. REALLY SNARKY!!! Really folks do you blame me with all I have had to deal with? One very sick mother-in-law with near death Protozoic filled kidneys with kidney stones, daughter with pneumonia(and a bad case at that). Then my own thyroid failure(how come when something does not work on my body I always feel like a total failure in general. What's up with that? Maybe I need therapy? KWIM) and having to deal with not being able to figure out why I have no cycle, but am not going through menopause. And have a kidney infection on top of it all.....Then having the city come down on us like locust....It's been one heck of a summer, one of the most challenging of my life! So here on this blog I am now officially calling it fall and SUMMER IS DECLARED TO BE OVER. With this proclamation I also declare a new direction and change of attitude to commence immediately as well as a new posting schedule. Just an FYI....Mother-in-law is on the mend and should be back to work soon and most of my healthy problems are beginning to be resolved! SO with all of that said FALL IS HERE, A new post schedule and direction for this blog will begin on Monday and NO more Misses SNARKY, unless the city keeps messing with us, then the gloves come out! WELL,

After much huffing and puffing and three years of the city acting like total goof heads. WE FINALLY ARE RUNNING THE BUSINESS COMPLETELY LEGALLY ACCORDING TO THE CITY!!!!!!!!! What pray tell took three and one half years? WELL THE lovely (heads up their backends) Salt Lake City Business permit office has literally been giving us the run around this WHOLE time trying to tell us we HAD no choice but to clandestinely call ourselves artists and ONLY sell through a broker or second party(wholesale only) or require us to have a ONE MILLION DOLLAR bond and PROVEABLE ONE MILLION DOLLARS in assets and equipment or they WOULD under NO CIRCUMSTANCES whatsoever allow us to be licensed to build any sort of furniture (even one of a kind)! We fought, we argued, we ranted and raved to no avail.....So we clandestinely call our selves artists, set up a business license through the state and city out of the house for arts and crafts, and continued doing what we have been doing, KNOWING full well we had been bullied, lied to, manipulated and drug through the mud so to speak......A few weeks ago the city comes in and starts coming down on all the artists in the building, the same ones they all gave the same song and dance to over the last 4 years. Telling us all we are NOT legal and that they are going to shut us down.....The unmitigated GALL of these people is just unreal! EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US HAD BEEN GIVEN THE SAME SONG AND DANCE OVER THE YEARS>>>>> Well guess what we found out. THE city cannot get the grant money for the extension of Gateway and the planning and federal funding(federal grant money in the form of block grants, federal main street improvement block grants, and general bonds) in place for the planned entertainment district(running from Gateway to 900 South from The freeway to Main Street) unless they can prove to the federal goverment that their numbers of ARTISTS and SMALL BUSINESS owners meets the goverment grant laid out formulas.....AND they are lacking BIG TIME!!!!! So all this CRAP and I am calling it CRAP (we call a spade a spade around here) that we have been hearing over the course of the last year and one half from all the city P.R. people and the feeds the media have been regurgitating to the public is nothing more that a BIG FAT COME ON(oh you know the ones...This city is SO artist friendly, we really really embrace the arts here and Salt Lake City really loves their artists. And the enviroment for artists here is SO VIBRANT AND WONDERFUL!!!!!< WHAT A LOAD OF HOCUS POCUS!!!!!) so they can get grant and federal dollars(What games people play for big bucks , just makes me sick!)..........So now the westside artists are being EMBRACED and WELCOMED into the world of legimate REAL business men and woman(SO we can later end up being kicked in the you know what, when they get their precious grant money, change the zoning to commercial,entertainment only and as usually we will go back to kicking artists in the "BLEEP" once we have our goverment cha-ching(pay day for the already rich in Salt Lake City).....I can lay bets and be rich beyond my wildest dreams that within 2 years of getting the grant money the City will see to it we are all back to clandestine status or run out of town on a rail!!!!! WATCH AND SEE IF I AM NOT RIGHT!!!! POLITICS, POLITICIAN and CITY PLANNERS CAN SOMETIMES BE GOOD, BUT MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, THE STINK STARTS AT THE ARM PIT OF THE GOVERMENTS POCKETS>>>>>And the SMELL JUST GROWS FROM THERE!!!!!! ISN'T LIFE JUST A PEACH, WHEN YOU ARE JUST SMART ENOUGH TO REALLY KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON........sometimes I really do wish I was an idiot, life would just be so much nicer, prettier and easier!!!!!!

Got A Few Things Done Besides Nursing and Cooking Duties

Hey all,

This week was a little better, although I somehow managed to lose my drivers license,(never done that before!! Guess there is a first time for everything.). Nursing duty is still underway and I am not getting done what I should. Somehow I did manage to slip in a bit of sewing. All of it was done using scraps from my stash. Of course It does not even begin to scrape the top of the iceburg, so to speak. I could sew just off my scrap piles for the next year alone, I am sure. So here is the first item I finished. It is going to Etsy to be sold. Made from my linen(and this is some of the nice stuff) and vintage ribbon and trims stash. I think it is just lovely.

Then I also so made this mother/daughter set that was going to be used as a gift. And then I found out that the party I was making this for does not like aprons. What? Who keeps chicken, loves baking, cooking and being artsy and does not like aprons? Oh well. So this set will be sold too. This set was made again from my stash. The blue material was from a duvet cover inner material from my home that did not fit my decor anymore. The yo-yo's were from some tiny scraps from the stash that were only big enough for quilting, Barbie clothes or such.(I use EVERYTHING until the pieces are so small you can get nothing from them). The bias tape was from my stash and is actually vintage stuff. Buttons were from thirty year old stash

Gotta Love Netflix, love that movie

Can I just tell you I am not one for spending big bucks on entertainment,never have been! I love to just hang at home and being around my family, going to church, talking over the fence with the neighbors, that sort of thing.......But I must say Netflix is one of the BEST inexpensive entertainment options we have ever found....Grant it, it does not get you out of the house. And like all things, too much of a good thing can be a bad thing!!!!!!(I would NOT recommend it if you have a true couch potatoe in your household) That said though, the watch instantly movies and series they have to offer is worth the subsription price each month.... Yes yes!! Red Box can be a good thing, but we have found it just does not work for us! Too many faddish and localized picks(we live in an area with lots of ethic diversity and they seem to cater in our area to one particular ethnic group)....And never any Sundance, Bollywood, Independent, PBS sponsored, Foreign(other than one race),Older, Avante Garde, or our favorite, British romantic type of films....All the ones we LOVE! Netflix has them all and many can be watched instantly. GO NETFLIX!! I watched one last night while I was sewing, that is now One of my all time favorites. Based on a true story, "GREENFINGERS" was beyond awesome! Okay I will get political and say this, It is no wonder this story never aired on Public Television in this country. With its message of REFORM, being a core and Key element of the state Prison system, instead of lock them up, make them better criminals, and then release them system we have in our lovely country. It is no wonder our "system" does not really want our public seeing these sorts of films.....AHH!!!! censorship in it underhanded form in this country makes me want to wax patriotic!!!!!! And of course with this story showing MURDERERS being reformed , instead of being put on death row, of course it would not be a good fit for our country.....Of course we would not be America without the death penalty, gee, might make someones head spin like a scene from a gruesome R rated movie or something(which we don't watch by the way).......Anyway my pick of the week for entertainment this week is "GREENFINGERS" the movie......Go get yourself some of its feel good, yummy, lovely, political statement, understated goodness!!!! My lovely lady

My sweet Young Lady is sick. No it's not the swine flu.She has walking pnuemonia. It really has knocked the wind out of her sails. And then William was home all day. He had Thursday off this week not his usual Wednesday. Being him, as it is, he was so full of spunk and zip and was cuttting one joke after another and since I am feeling a little bit better(not much mind you, but so far no hair loss, of course it is probably too early for that yet......Doc said it would be a slow improvement on the tired issue and the fog clearing from my head and could take up to six months to see any huge improvement) we were cutting jokes all day, playing off of one another, and poor young Miss.....She was coughing, hacking and gagging to everyone of our quips to beat the band........I finally had to call a time out and no more jokes......She was having a blast but the coughing was really getting out of hand. Never got to finish those cushions last night. I did not look at the amount of material and just started cutting them out. I figured Katherine had gotten enough...WROOOOONG!! there was only 6 yards and I am suppose to get five 25X25 finished cushions and two 30X50" sofa seat cushions out of that with the pattern having a 27" repeat and only going one direction. Are you kidding me????? There is no way on G-Ds green earth that going to happen. So I cut out the bottom cushions and call today to let her know and for her to go get more....I think she did not believe me that I could not get them at first. Math people, MATH? The store she got it from is no longer carrying anymore, so I am going to have to call her tomorrow since I was able to tract some down on the internet....Sometimes I THINK I would be better off doing simple easy crafts and just selling them at craft shows or something.......Anyway, I do love sewing for Katherine and others I have sewn for, but I wish they would consult me before buying materials....I know I have worked some miracles in the past, but it does not work like the fishes and loaves with Christ.......NOW THAT WOULD BE SOMETHING!!!!! I am going to finish the cushions for the three matching white outdoor chairs and the rocker tonight and will post some finshed pictures after we deliver them on Saturday. Bye kim

Made it through the pee dance

And did not spill a drop and the tech who did the ultrasound even made me wait almost an hour past my appointment time. I guess kegel excersises really do pay off!!! Now I get to sit and wait for the doctors office to call and give me the results(I am nervous as heck, okay hell)....I did not like the look on the techs face when they started checking my ovaries, thats for sure and for certain.......Oh well, I'll let you know when I know. I am up all night so I can finish a job for Kathryn at Home Again. It is copying some sofa cushions for one of her clients....Lovely piece of linen, just don't care for the horse motif, but to each his own....I'm sure in Weber county it probably fits right in..We are taking Leira to the Instacare tomorrow morning. We are really starting to get very worried. She was exposed to two girls at church whose brother has the swine flu. She has ran a fever for the second night now and she is developing a rather nasty cough. She has muscles aches today, I can tell, but refuses to admit it, as usual.........Why do people(cannot call her a child any more) who have Ausperger's never want to admit they are sick? I don't get it? I will let you know what the doc says tomorrow. She is coughing her head off up there now....I feel really bad for how lousy she feels. I am trying not to worry, but I am!!! Fasting, going for my ultrsound today

Have my ultrasound today so they can figure out what is going on with me........I don't like being poked and prodded at, but at least these tests are usually bearable. I just wish I did not have to think the entire time they are doing this one that dud or gal if you push too hard I just might explode and pee ALL over your nice table. And then I always think, I wonder just who has peed on this table?.......Oh the things that go through my head....If anyone else was in here with me I might just have to die of embarrassment.......My brain is scary sometimes.......Let you know later how it goes, but I won't be telling if I lose my bladder, Think I could blame it on old age if I do? After all I am only 42 not quite old enough to pull that one off I think.........Too bad!!! More later.....Got to go drink MORE water now.....Water , Water, eyeballs swimming in water already and not allowed to pee.......That doctor better not make me wait to long...Cause I am going to be doing the pee pee dance ALL morning.........Kim

Well UTAH and the federal goverment in all there wonderous glory(written tongue and cheek and with much anger as one can muster without bursting a bloodvessel) have finally gotten to me!!!!!!!I have been telling William ever since I have been married to him that UTAH has a personal, public plot to make sure someone can drive me straight to the front gates of the loonie bin and leave me there kicking and screaming to let me out of here(the culture here is NOT TEXAS by any stretch of the imagination). I have been struggling with my health for years and just when we think everything is going along swimmingly, I get the seatbelt of the car wrapped around my leg and ankle, end up doing a trampeze artist move out the door of my van and proceed to wretch my knee(beyond child birth pain, if you can believe it) and knock my self out on the concrete driveway, skirt over my head and my glorious Mormon undies(so attractive) flashing the entire neighborhood(if I could be any more glamorous I might just have to shot myself and put myself out of my own misery)...............ANYWHO that was back in October and I was laid up for months and I am just in the last few weeks able to walk for more than 5 minutes without my knee popping out of it's place and having THE KNEE PAIN FROM HELL!!! Of course I start putting on weight , I am thinking it is because I cannot get around and exercise(which is driving me loonie too) and then in the last 7 months no period, so I am thinking ..........Oh H%^$#LL now what!!! Then I start blowing up like I am really really pregnant......Then I start having trouble being able to sleep at all, then in the last months all I want to do is sleep..............I get some song and dance from my doctor that well maybe, just maybe it is your Thyroid......Check it along with all the other assorted blood work(oh and I forgot to mention when I wonked, yes Virginia, that is an official medical term, GO LOOK IT UP!!! wink wink, my head on the concrete during this escapade, that I knocked the "crystals" loose in my inner ear, Did you catch that lovely medical jargon too??????? and had to put up with the room spinning and almost passing out everytime I moved my head or got up, sat down, or laid down for months on end) For someone who has never touch an illicit drug in my life, I sure have gotten my fill of "crystal clear" persuation over the last few months with all the room spinning and almost passing out episodes. (try driving with that one, I literally became a prisoner in my own home!!!!)...Any way the first labs came back, well your thyriod is a little low, but no big whoop.......Okay so then a couple of months into this I go for my first gyny app. in 7 years!! I know I know, I am bad , but I have good reason(let me tell you when EVERY gyny who ever has examined you professes that you have the longest, narrowest who who, yes yes more medical jargon, they have EVER encountered in the history of their profession, and I am telling you a couple have been really OLD!!!!! And then after trying at least 5 different types of speculas and of course NONE of them EVER working, you really start to get a complex about the way G-D put you together......Then every time with ,EVERY SINGLE GYNY I HAVE EVER HAD!!! ,while they are face to face with places you have never even seen face to face, they ALWAYS have to comment on.........................Are you really sure you had a vaginal delivery with your child???????( are you freaking kidding me!!!!????? WT#@#@!!! I am pretty darn sure October 26, 1990 I was pushing something big , wiggily and crying out of my who who!!! HELLO!!!!).......I keep telling my husband he REALLY undervalues, my properties worth if YKWIM!!!! ..................................................ANYWAY, I go in and we mention the aforementioned thyriod again , so gyny decides to run MORE labs......Just call me the human pin cushion alright already!!!!!......Well now my lovely little thyriod has completely FAILED, and I am asked how long have I lived in Utah......Well when I give my answer I get!!!!!Oh well I knew by the way it failed.......You Have downwinder syndrome...................................I am freaking mad as hell!!!!!! What's next? are my arms going to fall off? Am a going to get some really aggressive form of cancer?? Now wonder the Huntsman cancer Center is located here.....They have all the guiny pigs the goverment could provide!!!! And then I get told the type of thyroid medicine I am going to have to take , most likely will cause significant hair loss..................And in some cases it does not come back!!!! CRAP!!!! I am already ugly looking enough, man, how much more do I have to endure!!!!?????? Seriously I must have been ONE vain B^%###$tch in the pre-exists to have all these WONDERFUL LESSONS bestowed on me!!!!! .................Thank G-d for cute wigs I guess , but really how much more can I take......I am one P.O.'d woman right now!!!!!! Okay where the @#$#%%^ is the chocolate!!!!!!!!!!!! Next torture I get to endure is a GYNY ultrasound and a D&C...........(in part ,cause this time NONE of the speculas will fit to reach my special who who parts...Can I BE ANY MORE BLESSED????!!!!!) ...........All I have to say is this.....For those woman who are getting special who who shrinking surgeries, maybe you better rethink yourself.........I mean what if it ends up too small, you might have to endure what I do!!!!! Vain little @$R$#....................Okay I promise no more ranting posts for a least a few days..............................................Unless my hair starts falling out in clumps!!!!!! I am just now getting round to posting after months and months and well........Things have been a little crazy round here what with the economy slowing and all. We have had to work three times as hard for half the money and well I am sure we are not the only ones feeling the pinch. At least we still have a roof over our heads and the bills still seem to be getting paid on time, but there are NO I repeat NO extras. So I was going to tell last time how We all have last names. It really is quite simple really. I was married before and had to get divorced to protect myself and my daughter from a very violent and dangerous situation. I was only married a few weeks when I left and did not even know I was pregnant. Anyway I had my daughter, got the divorce final when she was about 2 (Texas will not let you get a divorce when you are pregnant and then he was trying to get extra grandparent rights for his mother, which drug the divorce out a long time) Anyway I live 4 years single and had to move to Utah during this time to protect my daughter from the other bad things we found out the ex was capable of (may any man with leanings such as that suffer in ever perpetual misery, this is where you truly do LEAN on the promises of God.)Utah was chooses because it had the highest airfare in the country to and from Texas......Don't laugh that is the truth. I did not know a soul here when I moved. I worked and lived in an apartment for a year and then sold my home in Texas and purchased a home here. Within months of moving into the house I stopped receiving any child support and of course no. the only reason why I found out the truth was through the friends my mother had made in the military who were keeping us informed of his every move. I will keep in brief and say he was asked to leave not so politely for supposedely getting caught doing things any righteous man would not be caught dead doing , and leave it at that (except to say it sure explained A LOT of his behavior in the marriage!!!!!) I met my husband through the ward I was in and within a few months we were married. Of course after several years of no child support even the state was begging my husband to go to court and get Leira adopted. So he did. When we were in court the federal judge (who was filling in that week for some other judge) took Leira into chambers and talked to her about getting adopted ...Things like did she love her DAD and did she want to be adopted and they must have had a pretty good chat, cause we sat there a good 20 minutes....We were then invited into chambers and he told us what they had chatted about....Seems Leira had made it quite clear that she had been going by Cherrine(my last name) at school and she still like that name but would not mind if she had both names....So he had whipped out the papers and changed all the places it gave as her new name being Bell and changed them to Cherrine-Bell. When we started to protest upon seeing the paper work we were informed that that is what Leira wanted and were we going to sit and argue with a federal judge (needless to say I am certainly not going to mess with or argue with a federal judge unless her really really peeved me off KWIM) So that is how we ended up a three surname household. Now I am FORCED to do at least as much geneology work as I can so no one way down the line has to sit and figure out who belongs to who and just what the story was with the three surnames!!!! Well I will post more tomorrow and start to get into US and not just old history.......Loves to all

Just started on Etsy: lets see what we can do!!!

Never have we done this blog thing before so this is all new to me!

We will be using this blog as a family blog and for our new Etsy adventure, so family, friends and customers(some of whom are like family anyway) can get to know us and what we are all up to......

We just started our own family Etsy shop and I guess we are going to see what we can do with it?! Everyone says to do Etsy well you have to shamelessly self promote. That is one thing I am not so hot at, so I don't know how well this is going to go. But we figured we would crawl (kicking and clawing, oh you did not see that right?) out of our our little world of non blogging and non computer using(except for e-mails) and get with the 21st century. About time eh! ................................................The last few weeks all I have been doing is writing letters , shooting of e-mails and calling every blessed Senator and Congressman ,as well as media and local leaders to see who has what contacts and connections for fighting this insane CPSIA new rules and regulations. The expansion of power with this new law and the poor wording and hand tied reaction of the commission borders on near insanity. A lot of my business plans are partly on hold and hover until we get some more clarification on this "colossal" disaster that is in the commissions lap. I started blogging today partly just so I could blog with other crafters from Etsy on Wednesday to protest and voice our frustration and get info out on this issue. And yes we have three different last names in our house!......mine is legally Cherrine , never got round to changing it........One of my New Years resolutions to my hubby, not that he even cares one way or the other, but since I think I am going to keep him after 11 years of marriage (Ha ha just a joke) I am going to change it. I will blog tommorrow on why my daughter has a different name than either one of us . I am tired tonight so it is off to bed for me ...............Later! Peace and God bless you and yours.
